Lindsay Jones is an award-winning freelance journalist based in Halifax. Her stories appear in The Globe and Mail, Maclean’s and the CBC.

Lindsay’s 2018 Globe and Mail feature story In rural New Brunswick, a transgender woman charts a new path won gold in two categories at the Digital Publishing Awards.

She attended the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity investigative journalism intensive in 2018 to work on a true crime narrative that will soon be published in The Walrus.

Her 2017 Globe investigation What happened to Lionel Desmond? An Afghanistan veteran whose war wouldn’t end was nominated for a Canadian Association of Journalists Award and helped to lead to the launch of a provincial fatality inquiry.

Lindsay’s 2019 Topic.com feature Mothering Without Limits was named a best read on The Sunday Long Read.

She has also appeared on The Big Story Podcast, which looks at issues shaping Canada, for her Maclean’s story For these east coast fish, human intervention is their only hope.

Her writing has also appeared on Canada’s National Observer.

Lindsay previously worked as a reporter at The (Halifax) Daily News and Metro Halifax.

She is a member of the Canadian Association of Journalists.

Lindsay has a Bachelor of Journalism Honours from the University of King’s College.

She cares deeply about writing narratives that shine a light on systems and situations that require extra scrutiny. She writes about crime, feminist issues, veterans and marine eco-systems.
